Howdy All!

Last week I mentioned that Moonlight reminded me of an old Hoagy Carmichael song. This week I figured I would focus on Hoagy a bit. I love Hoagy. He was a singer/songwriter in the early part of the 20th century. He wrote poppy jazz songs. Many of which have become standards in the American music songbook. Most famous are Startdust, Georgia on My Mind, Up a Lazy River and What’ll I Do?.

An interesting bit of trivia I came across was that Ian Flemming – creator of James Bond – in his novel Casino Royale, which also happens to be the most recent film in the series, describes Agent Bond as resembling Hoagy Carmichael with a scar down the side of his face.

I came across the below clip and thought it was a good introduction to Hoagy. It is a live appearance and give us a glimpse at the man and performer. He is quite funny. Enjoy. (you will need to go to you tube vial the embed to watch the video.
