The Voice Of The Civil Rights Movement

Odetta has passed away at the age of 77.  This woman had a voice that could move mountains.  Strength, courage and power.  She dearly wanted to sing at Obama’s inauguration.  I get teary thinking of her singing something like “We Shall Overcome” of “Glory Hallelujah” (seen below) as the first African-American is sworn in as president of the United States.

Godspeed Odetta.

The first 2 clips are from earlier this year.  The rest are from varoious points in her career.
